Elon Musk, the world’s richest person and CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has a personal life as sprawling and complex as his business empire. Over the past two decades, the tech mogul has navigated a series of high-profile marriages, public breakups, and a growing family that has become a subject of global fascination. While Musk is not currently married, his relationships have produced a dynasty of 14 children, making his family tree both intricate and ever-expanding.
From his first wife to his current partner, and from tragedy to triumph, Musk’s romantic history is filled with dramatic turns. He has been married three times to just two women, and his search for companionship has led him from a Canadian author to a British actress and, more recently, to an unconventional arrangement with a top executive at one of his own companies. As he continues to sound the alarm about global population decline, Musk has largely practiced what he preaches, building a unique family with multiple mothers.

Wives and Significant Partners
Elon Musk’s first wife was Justine Wilson, a Canadian author he met at Queen’s University in Ontario. The couple married in 2000 and had six children together, though their first son, Nevada, tragically died of SIDS at just ten weeks old. After their divorce in 2008, Musk quickly married British actress Talulah Riley just six weeks later. Their relationship was tempestuous, resulting in a marriage, divorce, reconciliation, a second marriage, and a final split in 2016. Following his divorces, Musk had brief, high-profile relationships with actresses Amber Heard and Natasha Bassett.
Musk then entered a long-term but off-and-on relationship with the Canadian musician Grimes (born Claire Boucher) from 2018 to 2022. Although the couple was never legally married (ex-wife Grimes in common parlance), they share three children together. As of 2026, Musk’s most stable and significant relationship is with Shivon Zilis, a 39-year-old executive at his neurotechnology company, Neuralink.

Zilis testified in court that she and Musk had a brief romance before their relationship evolved into a co-parenting arrangement after Musk offered to father her children. Musk has since referred to Zilis as his current girlfriend, publicly confirming their romantic involvement.
The Next Generation: His Children
Elon Musk has fathered a total of 14 known children with four different women. With his first wife, Justine Wilson, he had twins Griffin and Vivian (born 2004), followed by triplets Kai, Saxon, and Damian (born 2006). One of his twins, Vivian, has since publicly disavowed her relationship with her father and legally changed her name and gender. With musician Grimes, Musk shares three children: son X Æ A-Xii, daughter Exa Dark Sideræl, and son Techno Mechanicus (often called “Tau”).

Musk has his most children with Shivon Zilis: twins Strider and Azure (born November 2021), daughter Arcadia (born February 2024), and son Seldon Lycurgus (whose birth was announced in June 2026). Additionally, conservative influencer Ashley St. Clair has claimed that Musk is the father of her son, Romulus, born in 2024, a claim that is currently being contested in a legal custody battle. To help manage his large family, Musk has reportedly purchased a $35 million compound in Austin, Texas, so his children and their mothers can live in close proximity.
