There are no transgender members in Pentatonix; however, Scott Hoying and Mitch Grassi are openly gay. Although people are getting more confused about Mitch and Scott being a real-life couple, they deny the fact and call each other supportive friends. As of 2022, Mitch's marital status is single, and Scott Hoying proposed to his long-term boyfriend, Mark Manio, to marry him on a beach in the Bahamas. The rumors also pointed out that the former member of Pentatonix, Avi Kaplan, was dead, but that was just street gossip and fake news.

Pentatonix is an American Cappella group from Arlington, Texas, also known by its youtube name, PTX. Mitch Grassi, Scott Hoying, Kirstin Maldonado, Kevin Olusola, and Matt Sallee are the band members currently performing for Pentatonix as of 2022. Pentatonix was formed in 2011 and won the third season of the reality singing show NBC's The Sing-Off and received $200,000 with the contract of recording with Sony Music.

Scott, Kirstin, and Mitch Grassi were the high school student of Martin High School and met each other through choirs and drama groups. They first made a trio version of Lady Gaga and Beyonce’s, Telephone so they could enter a radio contest to meet the cast of Glee.

At this moment, Pentatonix has 19.9 million followers on YouTube, and their most recent video, Kid On Christmas, has 702k views. As of December 2022, more than 692 million people had viewed the music video for their most famous song, Hallelujah.

No one in Pentatonix(@ptxofficial) is transgender, but Scott Hoying(@scotthoying) and Mitch Grassi(@mitchgrassi) are openly gay members who came out as gay when they were in their teens. Even though people make rumors of Mitch and Scott being a real-life couple, they both deny it and say they are just good friends. Mitch is still single as of 2022, and Scott recently asked Mark, his long-term boyfriend, to marry him on a beach in The Bahamas.

Scott Hoying named the group Pentatonix, which came from the pentatonic scale, a musical scale or mode with five notes per octave, which stands for the five people in the group. In January 2012, the band started making their first album with producer Ben Bram after signing with Sony Pictures' Madison Gate Records label. Pentatonix posted covers of new and old songs during those six months on YouTube.

The five members of Pentatonix, Scott Hoying, Kevin Olusola, Kirstin Maldonado, Mitch Grassi, and Avi Kaplan, became the first Cappella act to make it to our 30 Under 30 list. Before the Pentatonix, the group only consisted of three members, and to compete in The Sing-Off; The Trio band searched for a bass singer and a beatboxer. In 2010, Kevin Olusola joined as a beatboxer; in 2011, Avi Kaplan joined as a bass singer, turning The Trio into Pentatonix.

The band continues to appear at its best. Kaplan announced his departure from the a Cappella group, Pentatonix in May 2017, the group had difficulty finding a new replacement. Before leaving the group, Kaplan stated;

I believe in what we do, and I believe in what they will do, I could never inhibit their success in any way. I would never, ever want that.

After Avi departed from the group, they welcomed new member Matthew Levon in September 2017. Matthew Levon was featured on their next album PTX Presents Top Pop, Vol. I. In the band, Scott Hoying and Mitch Grassi are the only openly gay members who came out as gay in their teens.

Mitch Grassi, who lives in L. A current started his career in pop music in Texas. For a young queer boy obsessed with singing pop music, it wasn't always the easiest thing makes his identity, but after entering Penatotonix, Mitch thanked the band and said;

Pentatonix taught me to be visible and proud of my trans identity.

Talking about Scott's personal life, he has been dating NTA Model Mark Manio since 2017. On April 14, 2022, Scott Hoying asked Manio to marry him on a beach in The Bahamas. Scott also recently mentioned his five-year relationship through his post as the couple showed their engagement ring together. Scott offers his love to his partner by stating;

so grateful I decided to quickly stop by that birthday party 5 years ago. it is so magical how meeting someone can shift the trajectory of your life in a single moment. you have enriched my life more than I can put into words & I wish I could tell my closeted 15-year-old self about you, Marky, he would’ve been so relieved. I love you so much.

Mark is an Instagram model and social media influencer recognized for posting fashion and lifestyle photos through his Instagram account. Mark has more than 60,000 followers on his social media. Mario also works as an aspiring songwriter who collaborated with his boyfriend Scott Hoying to write the song Thank You, featured on Pentatonix's We Need a Little Christmas album. Scott also described the happiness in their relationship in an interview and stated;

I have always just felt so comfortable with Mark. Right from the beginning, we would talk for hours about things. We have so many similar interests and we have so much fun together.
