In October 2017, Taylor Bisciotti visited an eye doctor who referred her to a corneal specialist after experiencing excruciating pain in her left eye. Bisciotti quickly realized that her first prognosis of the persistent pink eye was inaccurate. She had an open sore, or ulcer, on the cornea of her left eye.
Bisciotti's eye problems first surfaced in college, when she was diagnosed with pink eye. Every few months, she'd have the same problem: her eye would become bloodshot, irritated, and swollen, and sometimes pus would ooze from it. Bisciotti's cornea was scarred from being misdiagnosed for so long. Her doctor was even concerned that if the ulcer was not treated, she would develop a scar that would completely cover her cornea, causing Bisciotti to lose her vision in her left eye.
Although Bisciotti acknowledges she wasn't always attentive with her contact lenses, they are unsure of what caused the ulcer. She said;
There were nights when I slept with my contacts in or didn't clean them out as thoroughly as I should have.
She currently only wears contact lenses in her right eye. Her left eye can still see, but her vision is blurry.
