Melissa Morris' weight loss journey started with a television program because she debuted in the show's first episode and season as a 31-year-old weighing 653 pounds. The Texas native from Livingston had a lot of problems as a result, which she described on the show while crying. Despite being able to walk with some help on her own, she disliked having to rely on her then-husband Christopher Morris for everything.

After her operation, Melissa kept up her exercise routine and ate healthily. She even underwent procedures to remove excess, loose skin after she started dropping weight adequately and coming closer to her ideal weight. Melissa rigorously followed Dr. Now's routine for seven years.

She started losing weight swiftly, and at the end of her My 600-lb Life episode, she weighed just 157 pounds. Melissa struggled to maintain her newly attained healthy weight while being happy about her accomplishment and coping with problems in other areas of her life. After having weight loss surgery, Melissa encountered more difficulties and roadblocks than she had previously had to face.

Melissa's postpartum and parenthood experiences, however, were not as easy. Although she lost more than 500 pounds during that time, it was revealed in a later episode that she had once again suffered from weight gain during her pregnancies and had not been able to lose it as soon as the children had been born.

Melissa discovered that her weight had increased from roughly 150 pounds. to 275 pounds. after all the pregnancies. She became severely sad as a result of these events and her decision to be a stay-at-home mother, which hurt her mental health. Despite her happiness, Melissa was working to understand the adjustments and all she had to give up due to the new stage of her life.
